A case of confused identity, this species isn't an admiral but rather is a lady. Like other ladies, it cannot withstand freezing temperatures and so does not survive the winter northward. It's movements northward in the spring and summer are sometimes spectacular, with millions of individuals moving northward over a front extending hundreds of miles from east tot west.
